Center on Instruction (2008). A synopsis of Hattie & Timperley’s “Power of feedback”. Portsmouth, NH: RMC Research Corporation: Author.
The purpose of this paper is to summarize Hattie and Timperley’s (2007) review of meta-analyses examining the impact of feedback on student learning and performance. Hattie and Timperley found considerable variability in the effect of feedback depending on implementation and context. In addition to summarizing their results, the current report discusses practical implications and what these findings mean for classroom implementation. The authors also provide a graphic to help support teachers at multiple stages of the feedback process. This paper is a practical and useful resource for classroom teachers.
