This special issue of Language Arts focuses on assessment practices. Article topics include assessing student writing ability, teachable moments during writing conferences, and the language and culture of poor children. Articles also address assessment and accountability policy issues, research directions for literacy assessment in a global and digital world, and teacher practitioner perspectives on assessment.
