The purpose of this book is to explore issues and challenges related to educational assessment. This book is divided into three parts. Part one addresses creativity and innovation in assessment, including chapters on learning theory, accountability and formative assessment, ePortfolios, and assessment as critical inquiry. Part two focuses on building social capital and diverisity/difference and includes issues of fairness in testing, gender and inequality, disability, and the law. Part three addresses assessment in context, exploring teachers’ use of assessment data, making inferences from student performance, educational assessment in Norway, and standards for the twenty-first century. This book is written for researchers, students, policy makers, and anyone interested in measurement and accountability in education, and chapters were written by experts in the field.
