This guide is aimed at school and district leaders considering the adoption of an electronic data system to improve the use of data in their organization. The guide comprises three sections. The first section, tools for district and school leaders, highlights essential elements such as information quality, system quality, readiness to implement a data system and cost. The second section, tools for facilitators, includes a needs assessment for school and district leaders, information about choosing an appropriate system, and worksheets to assist with collaborative discussion and planning. The third section provides various resources to support data use and data systems.
